ROXAS City, Capiz
A lighthouse is meant to guide seafarers at night but the city government here sees it as another tourist spot.
One Capiz, a group of concerned Capiceños, with the help of the Roxas City government aims to beautify the Culasi lighthouse and its surroundings aside from making it more accessible to visitors, according to Architect Margie Maestro of the City Engineer’s Office.
Maestro
said a P3-million budget from the Department of Transportation and
Communications which was transferred to the city government will be used
to construct a view deck and a 375- meter pathway to the lighthouse.
The
design conceptualized by 5th year architecture students of the Capiz
State University (CapSU) will be incorporated into the beautification of
the lighthouse with some modifications due to budget constraints.
The services of Engr. Joel Alado, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority consultant, were also hired to help in the project implementation.
